Product prototypes
First versions of enclosures, panels, stands and product parts.
Prototyping & bespoke work
Prototypes, test pieces and one-off bespoke projects, laser cut and engraved to your design, with a clear route to batch production when you’re ready.
At a glance
Precision Cutworks makes laser-cut prototypes, test pieces and one-off bespoke items in acrylic, wood, plywood, MDF and selected plastics, with engraving where needed. We help prepare designs for production and can scale an approved prototype into batch or repeat production.
Making a first version of a part or product with the laser so you can check its size, fit, function and appearance before committing to a larger order.
Product designers, inventors, start-ups, architects and model makers, makers, small businesses and individuals with a one-off idea.
Acrylic, wood, plywood, MDF and selected plastics. Choosing the same material as the final product gives the most realistic test. See Materials & Capabilities.
Product prototypes, test-fit parts, display concepts, presentation models, personalised one-off pieces and custom signage.
Yes. One-off projects and single prototypes are welcome.
Yes. Once a design is approved, it can be produced in batches or as a repeat order. See Bulk & Batch Engraving and Trade Manufacturing.
Often, yes. Tell us exactly what the material is and its thickness, and we’ll confirm it’s right for your project before we start. See Customer-Supplied Materials.
Send your sketch with dimensions in millimetres and choose “I need design assistance” on the quote form. We’ll tell you what is needed to turn it into a production file.
Prototypes are quoted individually, based on material, size, design complexity and machine time.
Use our quote request form to send your requirements, quantities and artwork files. We review every enquiry and reply with a tailored quotation or any questions we have.
From idea to finished piece
A prototype shows how a design really looks, fits and works. Laser cutting is a quick way to make one, because a change to the design means a change to the file, not new tooling.
We can cut a first version, you check it, and we update and cut again until it is right. When you’re happy, the approved file can go straight into batch production.
Bespoke one-off projects follow the same approach. We look at what you want to achieve, suggest materials, and explain any limits before cutting.

Who it’s for
Whether you are developing a product or making something unique, we will explain the options in plain language and help you avoid costly surprises.
Artwork & files
We work from your design files. For cutting, we need vector artwork: SVG, DXF, PDF or AI files drawn at 1:1 scale in millimetres. PNG and JPG files are suitable for engraving photographs and raster images, or as a reference if you need help preparing artwork.
If your artwork isn’t ready for production, we can advise on what’s needed. See our guides for help preparing files for laser cutting.
Project examples
Photographs of prototype and bespoke projects are being added. Ask us for relevant examples when you request a quote.
