Batch engraving: the key facts

Precision Cutworks engraves batches of products, parts and merchandise for businesses, working from approved artwork so every item is marked the same way. We engrave items we supply and suitable items customers supply, including personalised or numbered batches, and we keep approved files on record (with your agreement) for repeat orders. Batch size and timescale are confirmed in each quote.

What is batch engraving?

Engraving a quantity of the same or similar items in organised production runs. Items are positioned consistently so the artwork is placed in the same position on each one.

Who is it for?

Retailers, brands, merchandise suppliers, event and marketing companies, manufacturers and organisations that need many items engraved.

Which materials can be batch engraved?

Acrylic, wood, plywood, MDF, slate, selected plastics and approved supplied products. See Materials & Capabilities.

What applications are supported?

Branded merchandise, product personalisation, part numbering and labelling, event items, awards, and gifts for staff or clients.

Is there a minimum quantity?

There is no fixed minimum. Smaller quantities are welcome.

Can you handle repeat orders?

Yes. With your agreement, we keep your approved artwork and settings on record so repeat orders can be quoted and produced consistently.

Can you engrave items I supply?

Often, yes. Tell us exactly what the material is and its thickness, and we’ll confirm it’s right for your project before we start. See Customer-Supplied Materials.

Which artwork formats do you accept?

Vector artwork (SVG, PDF, AI or DXF) works best. For personalised batches, supply names or numbers as a spreadsheet or text list.

How is batch engraving priced?

Batch pricing depends on the quantity, the engraved area and detail, how items are held and positioned, materials and delivery. Larger and repeat orders are quoted to reflect the work involved.

How do I request a quotation?

Use our quote form and include the quantity, item details, artwork and how often you expect to reorder.

Production engraving

Planned for consistency

Batch engraving needs good preparation. Before production, we agree the artwork, its size and position on the item, and how items will be held so each one is engraved in the same place.

For supplied products, we check the material and, where useful, engrave a sample for your approval before running the full batch.

When you reorder, the approved artwork and settings can be reused, so a repeat batch matches the original as closely as the materials allow.

  • Approved artworkProduction starts once you have approved the artwork and position.
  • Sample approvalFor larger runs, we can engrave a sample first.
  • Repeat-readyApproved files can be kept on record for future orders.
  • Personalised runsNames or numbers engraved from your list.
