FAQs
Questions and answers
Where can I get acrylic laser cut in the UK?
Precision Cutworks cuts acrylic in our workshop in Staveley, Chesterfield, Derbyshire and delivers across the UK, with collection by arrangement. Send your dimensions, thickness, colour, quantity and a vector file through our quote form.
Can I order small batches of laser-cut components?
Yes. We take on one-off pieces, small batches and larger repeat runs.
Can businesses outsource laser engraving?
Yes. We engrave for businesses that don’t have their own laser or need extra capacity, including trade and white-label work. See Trade & White-Label Manufacturing.
Can I supply my own acrylic or wooden materials?
Yes. Tell us exactly what the material is and its thickness, and we’ll confirm it’s right for your project before we start. See Customer-Supplied Materials.
Can you laser cut from an SVG or DXF file?
Yes. SVG and DXF are ideal for cutting, as are PDF and AI files. Draw at 1:1 scale in millimetres, convert text to outlines, and remove duplicate or overlapping lines.
How much does commercial laser engraving cost?
Engraving is quoted per job. Cost depends on the material, engraved area and detail, quantity and delivery. We don’t publish fixed prices because every job is different.
Can you produce repeat batches?
Yes. With your agreement, we keep approved artwork and settings on record, so repeat batches can be quoted and produced consistently.
What information is needed for a laser cutting quotation?
Dimensions in millimetres, quantity, material and thickness, your artwork file, whether you need cutting, engraving or both, any required date, and your delivery postcode or a request for collection.
What materials are suitable for laser cutting?
We cut acrylic (including mirror acrylic), wood, plywood, MDF and selected plastics, and engrave slate. See Materials & Capabilities.
Can you engrave products supplied by another business?
Yes, subject to checks on the material and how each item can be held in the machine. Tell us what the items are, what they are made from and how many there are.
Do you offer design help?
Yes. We can help prepare artwork for laser production and offer design assistance. Choose the relevant option on the quote form.
How long will my order take?
Lead times depend on the job and our schedule at the time. We’ll confirm a timescale with your quote. If you have a deadline, include it in your enquiry.
What is the difference between laser cutting and laser engraving?
Laser cutting goes all the way through the material to create a shape. Laser engraving marks the surface without cutting through, for logos, text and images. Many jobs use both.
Do you deliver, or can I collect?
We dispatch orders across the UK, and collection is available by arrangement. Delivery costs are included in your quotation. See Delivery & Collection.
Will you keep my designs confidential?
Yes. We use your artwork only to produce your order. See Artwork & Intellectual Property.
Do you cut acrylic letters for sign makers and other trade customers?
Yes. We cut acrylic letters, logos, panels and signage components from your artwork, supplied unbranded. See Acrylic letters & components or use our trade enquiry form.
How do I make a trade or repeat-supply enquiry?
Use our trade enquiry form. It asks about order frequency, batch sizes and white-label needs, so we can quote accurately.
How long is a quotation valid?
Quotations are valid for 30 days. See Quotation & Payment Terms.
How can I pay?
By bank transfer, card or PayPal. Payment details are set out in your quotation.
Do you work with customers outside Derbyshire?
Yes. We’re based in Staveley, Chesterfield, and work with customers throughout the UK, including Sheffield, Rotherham, Mansfield and beyond.
